In their first tournament since merging two teams into one for the upcoming 11v11 season, Inter Cheadle U13 finished runners up of the PFC tournament 2015.
Inter entered two sides (“South”) and (“North”) who both breezed through the group stages with some quality football. Unfortunately, South lost out in the quarter-final to eventual winners Wilmslow Sports JFC in an end-to-end game. North however romped through the quarter-final and semi-final, meeting Wilmslow Sports JFC in the final. The game itself was really good quality – especially given how tired both teams visibly were – but the goalkeepers stole the show in a 0-0 draw AET. That meant penalties and it was Wilsmslow’s goalie who was the eventual hero, making two incredible saves in the shootout to mean Wilmslow won by 2 goals to 1.
We shouldn’t omit the fact that, throughout the whole tournament, Inter North didn’t concede a goal other than the two in the penalty shootout. Some performance and our coaching team are more than proud – it ultimately shows how far the players have come as individuals and as a team since the merge earlier this summer.
